Three
Baptist Miracles
In case you are
wondering, Baptists were involved in the three miracles within this article, but
the denomination has nothing to do with the miracles. All three are the workings
of God the Holy Spirit! But, the title did get your
attention!
***The first
miracle happened many years ago to the mother of a long-time friend and retired
Baptist Pastor.
His mother had
suffered for 50 years with a condition that resulted in painful sore places on
her ankles. The sores eventually
led to her suffering some depression.
Just think how
depressed any of us would feel if we suffered such a malady for five
decades. And, none of the doctors
she consulted could offer any relief.
As it happened,
the wife of one of her doctors was a close friend who often visited her and knew
about the condition she suffered.
Finally, the doctor’s wife told her that she should visit an Episcopal
Priest in a nearby town. Her first
reaction when the doctor’s wife made that suggestion was to ask what the doctor
would think.
But, she agreed
and they went to see the Episcopal Priest.
That Priest met with her and prayed for her
healing.
Over the next
few weeks, those painful sores began healing until they were completely healed.
With the healing, her depression subsided until she returned to normal in that
respect.
The Holy Spirit
does not show respect for denominations.
He is interested in relationship with those called to be
saints!
***Our second
miracle was given to a friend who is now a Minister of Music at a small Baptist
Church in my home town. He normally
did construction work in the Atlanta
area.
After not
feeling well, he went to a doctor and was diagnosed with an incurable liver
decease. The doctor did offer hope
in that if he could find a liver donor, or someone who
would donated part of his/her liver, a transplant could cure the
problem.
My son Larry
just “happened” to have the same blood type as our friend. He came to me and asked if he could
perhaps donate part of his liver.
After we discussed it, we decided that Larry could indeed offer to ask as
the transplant donor.
Our friend came
home from Atlanta every week and sang in the choir at Church. One Sunday morning as he stood in the
choir, he suddenly warmed up from head to toe.
The next week at
the doctor’s, he was told that something happened. The specialists could no longer find the
decease and there was no need for a transplant operation. Our friend still lives
in the local area, and still serves the Lord!
***The final
miracle in this series is very personal. It happened to my wife, Carolyn.
Besides being my singing partner for almost 50 years now, she is now a retired
Teacher.
One day at
school, she bent over to pick up a piece of paper from the floor. As you no doubt have guessed, she was
unable to straighten up again. For
a few years she endured that condition with me, in my terrible way, in charge of
house work. It was not the best of
times.
After several
years, she was watching a Saturday rerun of the old 700 Club on TV. Ben Kintchlow
was the host that day. As Carolyn listened and watched the program that day, Ben
Kintchlow began to describe a healing using the very
same terms that Carolyn used when she described her back
ailment.
Carolyn knew it
was for her, and she set out to prove it was her miracle. First she went out and laid some brick I
had purchased or a patio in back of our home. Then, she planted a few rose bushes.
All that was done while I was warning her not to “over-do”
that testing “thing.”
The next week,
she went to a local doctor who had treated her for a slipped disc. After looking at a new X-ray and
determining that the slipped disc was no longer “slipped”, he told her that she
indeed had been healed although he did not know how. He also cautioned her, as I did, not to
“over-do” any testing “thing.”
Miracles take
place each and every day if we can look for them and give thanks to God for His
handiwork!
There is a
phrase that I am sure you have heard:
God is good all the time: All the time God is good!
Salvation is the
greatest miracle in the entire world! Christ died on the cross so that we may be
healed from the disease of sin! He was resurrected to show us that there is life
in Him!
Praise Him for
what He has done, and is doing in your life!
