The Church
Has Power Over The Plan of God?
Carolyn Evans
In
Sunday school class we were discussing Zechariah and a member made a statement
that if the church doesn’t get its act together, Christ can’t come back. I started thinking about how I felt about
this statement, but then I decided not to say anything for the present, maybe
another time. I decided that I have
another avenue to express my opinions, Darroll’s
Website.
If
this were true, we as part of “THE CHURCH” not only would be under great
bondage, but we would have power over God.
In II Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the
Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom . Bondage and freedom are not
synonymous. After hearing from the
pulpit that you have to get your act together, some Christians are in a
quandary. They think, what am I suppose
to do, maybe I should pray more, or give more money to the church. Maybe I could visit more, or witness
more. I know, I
could listen to more Christian music.
The
word tells me in I John 2:2 He (Jesus
Christ) is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also
for the sins of the whole world . Christ paid the full price for all my
sins. The ones I committed before I was saved and the ones I commit after I was
saved. If I have to work to make the
church ready for Christ return, then I am saying Christ did not pay the full
price for all my sins. When God looks at
the Church on the earth, He is looking through the blood of his precious
Son. Therefore, the Church is perfect. Ephesians 1:7-12 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8that he lavished on us with all
wisdom and understanding. 9And
he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure,
which he purposed in Christ, 10to
be put into effect when the times will have reached
their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one
head, even Christ. 11In him we were also chosen having been predestined
according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the
purpose of his will, 12in
order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ. Might be for the praise of
his glory .
If
we, “The Church,” are perfect through God’s eyes, then we have nothing to do to
get ready for Christ return. We are
saved by the grace of God, not by anything we have done. If God has had a PLAN since the beginning of
time, how would Christians have power over God’s PLAN to change it? Our purpose on Earth is to love, honor, and
praise God and be thankful for the PLAN for this Earth and the PLAN for our
lives. Everyday
I thank God and marvel at the fact that He chose me to be His child and part of
the PLAN.
